Attitude Attracts Grace

Featuring guest speaker Pete Beck!

This week Pete Beck was with us at Awaken City Church. Pete was my Pastor when I first moved to Greensboro some 20 years ago and is a man that I have been connecting with off and on for a few years now. This was a timely message for us here at Awaken City Church as we had just completed the first quarter of the year as a brand new church!

What To Expect

Our meetings are both casual and cutting-edge.  We like hanging out with each other and chatting over coffee before and after the service, but we also like putting on an exciting, engaging multimedia-flavored experience that gets you excited about God.

What We Believe

In essential beliefs we believe there should be unity.

There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. -Ephesians 4:4–6

In non-essential beliefs we believe there should be liberty.

As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions . . . Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand . . . So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. -Romans 14:1, 4, 12

In all our beliefs we believe that there must be love toward each other.

And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.-1 Corinthians 13:2

The Bible

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God and should be the supreme and final authority in our lives and faith.

One God

We believe in one God who exists and reveals Himself in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was raised from the dead and is at the right hand of the Father as true God and true man.

Salvation

We believe that all mankind was created in the image of God, but fell from relationship with God by voluntary disobedience. Only through accepting Jesus Christ's substitutionary sacrifice of His shed blood for our sins, we can be forgiven and restored into fellowship with God.

The Church

We believe that the Church is comprised of all those who acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior and that scripture instructs believers to identify and regularly assemble with other believers to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Bible, fellowship, and works of service.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that at the point of salvation the Holy Spirit fills each believer to be a source of strength, assurance, and wisdom. The Holy Spirit desires to fill each believer continually with increased power for Christian life and witness and imparts His supernatural gifts for the edification of the Church and for various works of ministry in the world. All the gifts of the Holy Spirit at work in the Church of the first-century are available today, are vital for the mission of the church, and are to be earnestly desired and practiced.

Water Baptism

We believe that water baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, on the authority of Jesus name, should be followed by all believers as a public profession of their faith in Christ.

Lord's Supper

We believe that the Holy ordinance of Communion should be received by believers walking in fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ as a remembrance and celebration of what Christ accomplished for them on the cross.

The Consummation

The Consummation of all things includes the visible, personal and glorious return of Jesus Christ; the resurrection of the dead and the translation of those alive in Christ; the judgment of the just and the unjust; and the fulfillment of Christ's kingdom in the new heavens and the new earth. In the Consummation, Satan with his hosts and all those outside Christ are finally separated from the benevolent presence of God, enduring eternal punishment; but the righteous, in glorious bodies, shall live and reign with Him forever. Married to Christ as His Bride, the Church will be in the presence of God forever, serving Him and giving Him unending praise and glory. Then shall the eager expectation of creation be fulfilled, and the whole earth shall proclaim the glory of God who makes all things new.
